Crimsoc
|
Crimsoc is a society for all criminology postgraduate taught/research students, or anyone with an interest in criminology. We run two types of meetings a journal/lunch club and a discussion/drinks club. Once a month we pick a journal article/book chapter to read and then get together over lunch and have an informal discussion about what we've read - the idea is that this gives us an opportunity to broaden our knowledge and read things we might not otherwise come across in our research. With this in mind, members are encouraged to make recommendations of articles they have read which they have found particularly interesting or helpful in their own research. |
During the discussion sessions one person takes responsibility for leading the discussion. That person will present a paper of their choice, which may be based on their research ideas/interests/findings. Presentations may be given by individuals or groups, and sessions may be based on a single paper or a panel discussion. It is an informal environment; the main aim is to provide a forum for networking amongst criminology students and researchers. |
