Biography

BA (Hons) Sociology, University of Sheffield. This involved a dissertation, The management of violence in the night-time economy, which investigated the precursors of violence and the attitudes of society towards violence and authority, using a Yorkshire nightclub as a case study.
MA in International Criminology (Distinction), University of Sheffield. This involved a dissertation, Rural Door Supervision, which provided a unique insight into night-time security in an environment other than that of the city centre.

Scope of Research

My interests are in security, governance and guardianship in the night-time economy. Specifically, I am looking at; the role of door supervisors, the changing nature of the security industry, and public and private partnerships within this industry.
