Arriving at Sheffield and orientation:
There are two orientation programmes that students studying for the first semester or the full year can attend:
The International Student Orientation Programme. This is run by the Student Support and Guidance department. It takes place two weeks before the start of the semester and is usually only available for students staying a full year in Sheffield, although students staying for one semester only can be added to a waiting list and are often able to attend depending on the demand for places.
The School of Law orientation. This takes place in 'intro week' (one week before the start of the semester) and you MUST attend. During this week there will be information meetings and social events designed to help you meet other exchange students, find your way around the Law School and understand what life studying Law at Sheffield will be like. You will also complete your registration and be issued with your handbook and timetable.
You can download a copy of the provisional departmental orientation programme timetable from box on the right of this page.
For students coming to Sheffield for the second semester only the University Student Support and Guidance Department usually runs a mini orientation programme but it is dependent on demand. You will be sent details about it nearer the time you are due to start your studies in Sheffield.
The School of Law will also run a mini orientation for students coming to Sheffield for the second semester only which will include a tour of the department, information about your studies at Sheffield, and departmental registration
