What our graduates do
Where do our graduates go? Private sector consultancies, community development agencies, local authorities, national government. Some set up their own companies, while others operate in the public or voluntary sectors, helping to improve local communities. Many focus on design. Others specialise in landscape ecology or strategic planning and policy. Some have achieved the highest levels of recognition – as president of the Landscape Institute (UK) and president of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA).
If you don't take up a career in landscape, you'll still be highly employable. Employers right across the board value the transferable skills you'll develop with us – skills like creativity, research, analysis, communication and project management. And they know Sheffield landscape graduates are among the best in the field.
More about landscape architecture as a profession
Home and awayWe believe in making a difference on our own doorstep. Some of the projects our staff and students work on are right here in Sheffield. Our landscape work in Sharrow and Parson Cross has improved libraries and children's centres for communities who depend on them. And our Green Estate project brings us together with local volunteers to regenerate areas that need it most. At the same time, our international reputation means we attract students and visitors from across the world. So we're a department with an exciting cosmopolitan buzz. Study here and you'll make friends from other nations and other cultures. Our local and global links are one more reason why we're a great place to study. |
Studying abroadOur courses are ideal for travel lovers. You'll go on many field trips to view landscape projects. Students love our international visit in the third year, to Barcelona, Berlin or Paris. It's a great social event as well as a learning opportunity. (And the cost is all included in your course fee.) And our exchange programmes allow you to study with other leading landscape schools. Stay in Europe by spending time with a university in Germany, the Netherlands or Sweden. Or travel further afield to Japan or the USA. It's all up to you. |
