Pete joined the department in May 2012 after spending a year with the University's central Marketing team. During that time he worked mostly on the Project 2012 web audit, creating new web content for more than 20 academic departments.

He studied English language and literature at the University of Central England (now Birmingham City University) and the University of Warwick, then spent five years in magazine journalism with a midlands-based education publisher. Before joining the University Pete worked freelance for almost a decade, as a journalist, editor and copy writer, latterly with some of Yorkshire's leading communications and marketing agencies.

His current role is to oversee the department's communications and marketing activity, producing publicity materials and looking after our website and social media channels, with a view to supporting student recruitment and boosting the profile of the department. Pete is employed jointly by Journalism Studies with the Department of Economics.
