Olivia misses out on GMTV role

Sheffield journalism student Olivia Midgley fell at the final hurdle in her bid to become a GMTV presenter.

The 19-year-old undergraduate had been appearing on television during October as one of six finalists in the Spirit of Beauty contest run by haircare brand Pantene Pro-V in conjunction with GMTV and Premier Model Management.

Katie Houlbrook from North Yorkshire was declared the winner by actress Amanda Holden at a glittering ceremony in London. The prize includes playing a starring lead in a TV commercial and the chance to co-present with Lorraine Kelly on GMTV’s LK Today.

More than 5,000 women entered the nationwide competition. A panel of judges, along with the nation's votes, decided the winner.
