The postholder is required to develop technology for the neutron screening of airborne cargo using commercially available neutron generators and a combination of neutron/gamma imaging techniques in conjunction with gamma spectroscopy for the identification of the elemental composition of the screened objects. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a scientific discipline (or have equivalent experience) with relevant experience in a research environment and knowledge of relevant particle physics concepts along with understanding of design packages such as MCNP and TRIM. The post is available immediately until April 2011.
