At least 2 months before starting data collection, you should email a copy of your Research Ethics Application form, including information sheets and consent forms, to the Departmental Research Ethics Administrator.
All of the necessary forms can be accessed via the 'See also' box to the right.
Three reviewers who are independent of the research will be nominated by the Departmental Ethics Administrator. Initial review will be undertaken within 3 weeks of receipt of the application. The timescale for subsequent review will depend on the complexity of any amendments required.
ESRC funded research
From 1 January 2006 Ethics approval will be a condition of all ESRC funded research involving human participants. Staff applying for ESRC funding should note that additional costs incurred in carrying out ethics review are eligible under Full Economic Cost (fEC) and the University's agreed cost should be added to ESRC funding applications.
