The first major CILR event was a seminar which featured talks on research at the University of Sheffield and Queensland University of Technology, with speakers Christine Bruce, Nigel Ford, Sheila Webber, Bill Johnston and Andrew Madden. The programme and presentations are at:
The second event, in March 2008, featured Dr Patricia Senn Breivik, founding Chairperson of the National Forum for Information Literacy, and Dr Alexis Smith Macklin from Purdue University, together with a programme of speakers from the Department.

The series continued in August 2008 with a half-day summer seminar: Dr Yazdan Mansourian, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Technology, Tarbiat Moallem University, Iran, and a former PhD student in the Department, provided the keynote.

These full or half day events are supplemented by lunchtime research seminars held in the Information School.
