Representatives of the USA Fencing Team toured accommodation at the University of Sheffield, as they consider locations for possible training camps for the London 2012 Olympics.

Sheffield welcomed representatives from the USA Olympic team to the city, the second visit by USA representatives to take place this month.

The Executive Director Kurt Aichele and Bob Largman, Team Leader of the USA Fencing team met with representatives from Sheffield City Council and the Sheffield - Lighting the Flame partnership, only a week after a similar meeting with the US Boxing team. They were given a tour of the English Institute of Sport, Ponds Forge ISC, accommodation at the University of Sheffield and the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science at Sheffield Hallam University, in their bid to find a suitable location for training camps in the lead up to London 2012.

Mr Aichele said: "We know Sheffield is committed to sport and importantly, fencing with it hosting the European Championships in 2011. We've been really impressed with what the city has to offer."
