Last week on October 11th Intro Fiesta 2008 was held in the Octagon centre in the Union.
The night started at 9pm with entertainment such as bouncy boxing, bouncy basketball, a rodeo bull and a live band performance by Highway Child and a Céilidh performance. National societies had also set up stalls doing henna tattoos, national flag face painting, hair braiding, calligraphy, national costume dressing and so forth with each society or collaboration of societies offering something to the students. The night also features an international drink menu featuring both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
At midnight the Octagon turned into a club night featuring not only English music but tracks from all around the world. About 1000 people turned up during the night and hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.
Intro Fiesta is an event organised by the students for the students and this year it was organised by the International Students Committee led by the International Students Officer.
Also on Tuesday 21st of October an international social is taking place in the Raynor Lounge off Bar One called Sensations – Black & White. If you are interested check it out on the Union website or on Facebook.
