Opportunity for students to earn while they learn

Students who want to earn some extra cash while they study will be able to get expert help from the University of Sheffield’s, and Sheffield Hallam University’s, careers services next week, by attending the Work While You Study fair on Thursday 4 October 2007.

The University of Sheffield’s Careers Services will be joining forces with their counterparts at Sheffield Hallam University to host the fair at the HUBs, Sheffield Hallam University Students’ Union, between 10.30am and 4.00pm.

Previously known as the Student Employment fair, the Work While You Study fair is a must for student job seekers looking for flexible employment opportunities to make ends meet during their studies. It’s an opportunity for students to meet employers and to get up-to-date information about what part-time, vacation and voluntary work is available.

The fair also allows employers to tap into a brand new workforce early in the academic year and to advertise their organisation and vacancies to students in all years of study.

Michelle Dexter, Fairs Manager at the University of Sheffield, said: “This fair is one of the most popular events in our calendar with over 1,700 visitors attending in 2006. More and more students now work during their studies and we have tried to incorporate as many different employers, offering as wide a variety of jobs as possible.

“Exhibitors at this year’s event range from private sector employers through to charities and voluntary organisations offering paid and voluntary vacancies during term time and vacation periods.”
