Sheffield offers new PhD scholarships

The University of Sheffield is making a major investment in developing its postgraduate research community. 60 University Studentships and 25 new ORS (Overseas Research Students) awards are being offered for 2008 entry.

The Studentships will provide tuition fees at the UK/EU rate, a maintenance grant of either £6,450 or £12,900 per annum, and a Research Training Support Grant. Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants. International applicants will need to have the funding to cover the difference between the UK and international students tuition fee.

Further information and application forms are available at:

Deadline for applications: 1 February 2008

International students are also eligible to apply for the Overseas Research Student (ORS) Award Scheme. This scheme provides a maintenance grant and funding to pay the difference between the international and UK/EU research student tuition fee. These awards are granted annually, on a competitive basis, to attract high quality international students to undertake postgraduate research.
