Sonal's Web diary

A few days have passed since the sensational International Cultural Evening on Saturday and suddenly I find myself with not that much to do. It is back to the same old routine of getting up and going to clinics minus the evening time duties. Having seen almost the same people nearly everyday for 2 weeks suddenly it feels odd not seeing them anymore. As it is with any busy period ends, when you have time on your hands you now wonder what do to with it.

The Cultural Evening itself was big hit, selling out on the night. Over the last few years I feel as if the standard of the evening is rising as each society puts more time and effort into their performances as the competitive drive to be named the best act kicks in. This was also the second year myself and some friends helped to organize the fashion show. The words “fashion show ”are used loosely as there is no catwalk per say, therefore it ends up being more of a fashion showcase.

Hearing many peoples positive feedback on how much they enjoyed the performance and how it has improved from last year is very reassuring and pleasant to hear. However, all we do as the organizers is help societies who come up with their own modeling routine to work on it and give suggestions on what they have rehearsed. Some societies included some dancing and other additions to their act to make it more than just a walk up and down the stage. Ultimately, as with any task, how much effort one puts in is seen in the result, and this year each society put it in a lot for everything they participated in.

Before we know it another year will have flown by and another Cultural Evening will be taking place, its mission being to rival this years evening and make the night the best that it can be.

In the mean time, it is back to lectures, tutorials and general practice clinics until the Easter break which is almost around the corner.
