Sonal's Web Diary

Thus the countdown till exams begins. 11 days left until my first exam. Eeek. My panic peaks every now and then and this leads to a day of crazy revision followed by a calm of not so much revision before another wave of panic hits.

Mainly I study in my room because all my books and notes are in one place making it easier to study. However, there are those days where I simply cannot concentrate in my room and have to seek refuge in the library, usually the Information Commons.

I was one of the later people to visit the Information Commons and I had heard a lot of good reviews about it. Everyone said that it was a good place for revision as the 3rd floor had a silent study area with individual desks. So I ventured into the study area and was quite impressed with what I saw. Each desk had its own lamp and a pull out thing of sockets and the desks were quite large, allowing lots of room to spread materials over.

If I really wanted I could have brought my entire supply down and lived in the library for the day. I did not venture past the 3rd floor that day as I had found my niche and had quite comfortably settled in to study, but next time I go I would like to have a wander round the whole building.

What I really like about the Information Commons is that it has every facility I can think of wanting as a student. Individual study spaces, wireless connection with plug points, over 400 computers, sofas, a café and coffee and snack machines as well as showers. Oh and did I forget to mention it is actually a library. It is designed so that students could, in theory, live there.

I plan to make another trip to the Information Commons soon, perhaps over the weekend for another study session. I feel more motivated to work when I see hundreds of other people studying and working hard as well.
