Where do I find...

...a kiosk?

There are several on Level 0 in the entrance foyer and in the café; these allow you to acccess all web-based resources. In addition, there are 2 kiosks located at the top of the stairs on Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4; these only allow you to search the Library catalogue.

...a bookable PC?

You can book PCs on Levels 4, 5 and 6. The PCs with scanners on Level 1 are also bookable.

...a widescreen PC?

All the PCs in the IC now have widescreen monitors.

...a large-character keyboard?

There is one widescreen PC with large character keyboard on each floor from Level 1 to Level 6.

...a computer in the IC?

There are computers on all levels of the IC – the only exceptions are the silent study spaces on Levels 2 and 3, but you can use your laptop there.

...a plug socket for my laptop?

You can plug your laptop in at any desk which does not have a PC on it, or you can use the floor sockets located around the building. However, please do not unplug lamps or PCs and take care not to trail your cable across the floor.

...an available computer?

A guide to the number of free PCs in the IC is displayed on all the information screens throughout the building. PC Availability in nearby computing rooms is displayed on one screen on each level. The information is updated every few minutes.

You can also check PC Availability on the web and even on your mobile.

...the Quick Print Area?

The Quick Print Area is located on Level 1, near the Information Desk and scanners. Between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, time on these PCs is limited to just 20 minutes - allowing you to log on and print your work quickly. Due to the time-limit, you shouldn't have to wait long for one of these PCs to become available - but don't forget you can print to University printers from your laptop, or even from home.
