The process is the same all over campus and you can print your work from ANY printer of the same model ie. If you send to the 4100 queue, you can print from any 4100 printer on campus – not just the ones in the IC, or the one on the floor of the IC you are working on.
How to print
Select the print queue (4100, 8150, colour).
Go to a printer of the same model (see the table below).
Swipe your UCard – a list of jobs you have sent plus your credit balance will appear on the screen.
Select a job – the cost will display at the bottom of the screen.
Press the print button on the bottom right of the screen – your printing will come out of the printer and the cost will be deducted from your credit.

Printing is double-sided by default. To print single-sided, you have to click the properties button once you have selected your print queue and remove the tick from the “print double sided” box.
Beat the queues
The IC is often busy and demand for both PCs and printers can be very high. Follow these tips to get your printing quickly.
Sending documents to the print queues
Pre-book a PC – over a third of PCs in the IC are bookable through MUSE. Book one so it’s waiting for you when you need it.
Use the Quick Print Area – this is located near the Information Desk on Level 1. The PCs can only be used for 20 minutes at a time, so you shouldn’t have to wait long for one to be free.
Print from your laptop – you don’t have to log on to one of the IC computers to print, you can install the printers onto your own laptop.
Print before you even come into the IC – you can send documents to the print queues from home.
Choosing the best printer
The Quick Print Area on Level 1 has three 4100 printers side by side so you shouldn't have to wait long for one to become available.
The printers on Level 6 tend to be used less, so you often won’t need to queue there.
The 8150 printers are used less because they’re not the default printer.
There are 4100 printers in every CiCS Student Computer Room, so if all you need to do is collect printing, why not try one of those instead?
Troubleshooting
If you need help with printing, press the help button on a Business Unit phone and we will come to you.
Pdf files can take a while to print. If the green light is flashing on the printer and it says “processing job”, just be patient!
If the printer says “tray 4 empty”, it doesn’t necessarily mean there is no paper left. It just means the bottom tray is empty.
