When is the café open?

Monday - Friday 08:30 - 22:00
Saturday & Sunday 10:00 - 18:00

Reduced hours apply during vacations.

What do I do if I lose something?

Lost Property is held at the Welcome Desk by the entrance. If you get home and realise you have left something here, you can phone the Welcome Desk on 22 23989.

If you label items such as USB pen drives with your username, we can return them to you.

Where is the shower?

The shower is located on Level 1, through the double doors opposite the left side of the Information Desk. It is especially useful for people who walk or cycle to the University.

What is the Prayer Room?

The prayer room is a non-denominational prayer and meditation room, situated on Level 4, close to the stairwell to Levels 5 and 6.

It is available 24/7 to any student or member of staff who wishes to use it. Please remember to remove your shoes before you walk into the room.

What should I do if the fire alarm sounds?

There is a fire alarm test at 10.45am every Monday. At this time, an announcement is made over the tannoy and the alarm will sound for about 30 seconds. You can ignore this.

At any other time, or if the alarm sounds for more than 30 seconds, you need to evacuate the building by the nearest safe exit.

Remember: Your nearest safe exit is unlikely to be the way you came in.

Take time to familiarise yourself with the fire exits, so that the building can be evacuated quickly in an emergency.

Don´t finish what you´re doing; leave immediately.
Never use the lifts.
Don´t take drinks with you.

Once you have vacated the building, go across the road to the Computing Centre and wait in the carpark for further instructions.

How do I find out more information?

There are information screens on every level displaying important and useful information. You can use these to check PC availability and to find out what is going on in the IC.

There are directories between the lifts on levels 0-4 and these tell you what can be found on each level. If you are looking for a book, check the subject information on the directories as this will tell you which number sequences can be found on each level.

During service hours, the IC team is also on hand to answer any queries you may have about the IC, Library or CiCS.

In addition, we have many leaflets on the Information Desks and a lot of information on the web.
