Advertising in the IC
We don’t have traditional notice boards for displaying posters, but some of the screens around the building show “News” at certain times of the day and night.
We are happy to display content on these screens from all University departments, the Students´ Union and any other body formally affiliated with the University.
Submitting content
If you wish to submit content to be displayed on the plasma screens please read the following guidelines carefully:
- All content should be submitted at least 2 weeks before you want it to be displayed.
- Content should be in the following format:
Landscape
1270 pixels wide by 758 pixels high
png or jpg file
Please note: Powerpoint files saved as a jpg/png are not usually of a high enough quality or the correct dimensions. The adverts should be created in graphics software such as Corel Draw or Adobe Photoshop.
- Please indicate the first date on which you wish the content to be displayed and for how long.
- Email the content to plasmascreens@sheffield.ac.uk
We will only contact you if there is a problem with the formatting of your submission or if we do not feel the content is appropriate for the screens. Otherwise you can assume that your submission has been successful.
When and where will they be shown?
They mainly show at night as the priority during the day is to display information about the services available in the IC. However, we do have a designated news screen on Level 0 and 5 minute bulletins showing on the hour and half hour around the building.
Level 0: News Screen
- 24/7
- Adverts displayed in rotation with News from the IC, CiCS and Library.
- Depending on how many adverts in the playlist, your advert should show every 10 minutes or so.
- All adverts will be shown. No priority given to adverts that are to be displayed for a short length of time.
- Smaller size (680x406 pixels). This is the same ratio as the larger size stated in the submitting content section. So long as your text isn’t too small and the quality is good, the advert will look fine at the reduced size. If you want to you can send us two adverts – one with less text for the smaller advert.
Levels 1 - 6: News Bulletins
- 5 minutes on the hour and half hour.
- One screen on each level.
- Same layout as the L0 News screen. Adverts displayed in rotation with news from the IC, CiCS and Library.
- As the bulletin is short, priority will be given to University adverts that are to be displayed for a few weeks, rather than months/indefinitely.
Levels 1 - 6: Night News
- Continuously between midnight and 8am.
- One screen on each level.
- Depending on how many adverts in the playlist, your advert should show every 15 minutes or so.
- Full screen (1270x758 pixels – as stated in the submitting content section).
- All adverts will be shown. No priority given to adverts that are to be displayed for a short length of time.
