About Us

The Academic Unit of Respiratory Medicine is a highly cohesive grouping that combines internationally competitive interdisciplinary research in innate immunity with clinical research in respiratory disease.

Major research areas include:

• the regulation of apoptosis
• functions of toll-like receptors in myeloid biology
• subversion of innate immune defences by pathogens
• innate immune functions of the pulmonary epithelium
• mechanisms of airway inflammation and asthma
