Housing and Communities Research Group

The Housing & Communities Research Group was set up in February 2010 as an informal route for communication, collaboration and exchange of ideas between researchers working across departments in the University of Sheffield. It provides a forum to present current research and to promote future research activity. Members of the Group have wide interests in housing research including design, construction, community cohesion, social impact, finance, public policy, regulation of markets and international comparisons.

We meet in ICOSS for a couple of hours every three months or so and trust that individuals in the Group will find a focus to collaborate on their interests. At present we have members from Architecture, East Asian Studies, Landscape, Law, Management, ScHARR, Sociological Studies and Town & Regional Planning. Although we meet in ICOSS we would welcome staff from other Faculties who feel they would both benefit from and have something to offer to our meetings. At each meeting we have an outline agenda but we don´t keep minutes and we don't appoint officers!

There is an email list that you can join if you are interested in receiving invitations to our meetings; you can join the list on MUSE – look for housingresearch@lists.shef.ac.uk or contact Dr Jane Ball in the Law Department who manages the list at jane.ball@sheffield.ac.uk.
