ICOSS is supported by a strong management and technical team with expertise in project management, knowledge transfer and corporate hospitality.
Professor Allison James (Director of ICOSS)
Allison James, Director of ICOSS, is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Centre for the Study of Childhood and Youth. As one of the pioneers of childhood studies in the 1970s she has carried out a wide range of empirical and theoretical research on children and childhood, most recently exploring children’s perceptions of hospital space and children’s perspectives on food.
Author of numerous books and articles, recent books include, European Childhoods (co-edited with A.L.James, Palgrave 2008), Key Concepts in Childhood Studies (co-authored with A.L.James, Sage 2008) and Research With Children 2nd edition (co-edited with P. Christensen, 2008).
Jayne Parkin (Departmental Secretary)
Jayne is an experienced administrator with extensive training in the areas of office management, overseas conferencing, desktop publishing and multimedia applications. Her role within ICOSS includes the management of the office of the directorate, providing secretarial support to the core team, and provision of supplementary support to occupants of ICOSS.
Angie Maskrey (Meetings Support Officer)
Angie has sixteen years experience in the private sector where she received extensive training in customer service. Her role within ICOSS includes provision of supplementary support for occupants and the core team. She is the first point of contact for booking the audiovisual and conference facilities.
Mark Wainwright (IT Officer)
Mark has a background in computing, having studied computer science as an undergraduate. More recently, he has worked in technical support roles and has a great deal of experience in assisting users of various platforms, operating systems and applications. Mark's role as IT Officer is to look after the IT infrastructure at ICOSS and to provide support the building's occupants, in terms of both their research needs and use of conferencing facilities.

In October 2008 the ICOSS Management Team won the University of Sheffield Customer Service Award 2008 in recognition of excellent service delivery.
