How to use this site
How do I navigate the site?
You can search for a programme in 3 ways:
- Programmes are listed alphabetically
- Programmes are listed by subject (e.g, Acute and Critical Care, Dental Health, Information Management and Critical Appraisal) In each subject heading your will find details of all relevant programmes.
- Key word search. Enter your key word in the search engine on the home page and all relevant listing will be provided (e.g. I’m looking for a course in ….. Speech therapies)
Whichever way you search when you have found a programme that interests you simply choose and read its summary sheet to find details of study, location and dates available.
What are the programme fees?
For NHS employees within the Yorkshire and Humber NHS and East Midlands NHS regions a funding arrangement has been agreed with the University that will pay your study. If you are eligible to access the funds there is no fee for you to pay as a student. For applicants employed within the NHS you must however ensure that you have the support of your local LBR lead (Who is my LBR Lead?). Your lead will also be able to confirm your eligibility to access the funding:

- Please note that study days and non accredited courses are not currently funded for practitioners employed in the East Midlands NHS services. Please check the details of the programme you are interested in, or contact Tel. 0114 222 2030 e-mail hsccpd@sheffield.ac.uk for clarification.
- Funding is available to practitioners not employed within NHS healthcare organisations but who work in organisations that contribute to the delivery of NHS services within the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands or are providing practice experience for NHS students within the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands For further information on this aspect please contact: Tel. 0114 222 2030 e-mail hsccpd@sheffield.ac.uk
- Applicants who are unemployed at the completion of their pre registration programme within the York’s & Humber region are also eligible for funding.
- Please note that LBR / CPD funding for dissertations will be at the discretion of Trusts. Trusts will ensure that dissertation outcomes contribute to organisational requirements in terms of, for example, service improvement, priorities or innovation. Applicants should ensure that they have gained the agreement of line managers in terms of organisational outcomes from dissertations, before submitting dissertation funding applications
To confirm your eligibility to access funding contact Gary Albutt g.albutt@sheffield.ac.uk. For applicants employed outside of the NHS you must complete the online application and fees and funding forms and ensure that you have the support of your employer.
Applicants who are not eligible for a funded place under the Yorkshire and the Humber NHS scheme can access programmes as a self-funding student. Details of fees are available on request from:

How do I apply?
Accessing your programme is on a first come first served basis so it is important to reserve a place as early as you can. When you have found a programme you wish to attend, complete and submit the application form. Your place is then reserved pending completion of funding.

When you complete and submit your reservation you will be invited to download a form to complete your application. YOU MUST COMPLETE AND SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION FORM TO HAVE YOUR RESERVATION CONFIRMED
If you cannot download the application form please send a request e-mail to: hsccpd@sheffield.ac.uk
You must have your application approved by your line manager and additionally if you are employed within the South Yorkshire NHS organisation, or within the East Midlands NHS services, the LBR lead at your Trust (Who is my LBR Lead?). We cannot confirm your place on the programme until you return a completed and approved form to us. Please note you must complete the Equal Opportunities section of the form, for the form to be deemed completed.
Your completed and approved form needs to be returned to: CPD Admissions, School of Nursing & Midwfiery, The University of Sheffield, Samuel Fox House, Northern General Hospital, Herries Road, Sheffield, S5 7AU normally 5 weeks before the start of the programme in order to complete your registration with the University before you start your studies.
When your form has been returned you will receive confirmation of your place and further information about your programme. It will be necessary to complete further forms to register you as a student of the University. In some cases you may be required to provide further information to support your application and registration on courses that lead to an academic award.
Change of circumstances
Once you have made your application it is important to keep us up to date on any changes to your contact details or your ability to attend a programme as expected. Change of circumstances should be reported to:
