Who is it for?The unit is suitable for all health care professionals working within any care environment. |
Overview of content:This practice-focused unit offers an introduction to evidence-based practice. It introduces practitioners to the practical aspects of ensuring that practice is evidence-based. It helps students to recognise where evidence is needed, identify sources of evidence, to evaluate the quality of the evidence, and apply it to practice. |
What is it about?The unit is designed to introduce healthcare professionals to the concept of evidence-based practice, within the context of clinical effectiveness and the overall quality agenda in contemporary healthcare delivery. |

How does it enhance practice?The unit aims to facilitate development of the skills which underpin evidence based practice. It develops students’ skills and confidence in relation to identifying and gathering documented evidence, commenting on its value and presenting findings to others. |
Mode of Assessment:
Students undertake a written assignment which explores the evidence base of one aspect of their own area of practice.
