Who is it for?

This study day is suitable for health care professionals. It is especially suitable for health care assistants, students in the health care professions, or those newly qualified or recently returned to work.

Overview of content:

• The epidemiological picture
• Classification of diabetes
• Screening for complications
• Recognising and managing hypoglycaemia
• Dietary and lifestyle issues
• Change management

What is it about?

This study day is for students who would like to gain an overview of diabetes and diabetes services, or who wish to refresh their knowledge on the subject.

How does it enhance practice?

This introductory day to diabetes will equip you with the knowledge to understand diabetes and its management; to identify the key dietary and lifestyle issues; and enable you to take appropriate steps to help reduce the risk of complications associated with the disease. This knowledge will assist you when educating clients and empowering clients to self-manage their condition.
