The University of Sheffield
Human Resources

The University of Sheffield considers that the health and wellbeing of its staff is a major priority over the coming years and therefore have created an innovative and sector-leading approach to wellness with the recently launched Juice initiative to help staff take care of their everyday and health and wellbeing at work.

The University has for some time offered a range of wellbeing services and support to its 6,000 staff, including the provision of a Staff Occupational Health Service, Staff Counselling, training and development opportunities and an employee assistance helpline - helpU.

However this new approach to wellbeing focuses on treating people as individuals and taking into account their range of social, mental and physical needs. The intention is to support individuals to perform to the best of their abilities, creating a remarkable place to work.

Juice is about raising awareness of individual responsibility for wellbeing and providing a variety of interventions through which people can take charge of their own health and wellbeing. It provides staff with a core programme of activities as well as looking to support a number of health and wellbeing campaigns throughout the year and the website provides a wealth of guidance and information relating to health, exercise, diet and wellbeing, as well as up to date news articles relating to activities across the university and in the local community.
