Moderating Focus Groups

Brief Outline

This one day course gives participants an overview of the role and function of focus groups, and identifies the skills and techniques used for effectively organising and facilitating focus groups

Purpose

To help those with responsibility for focus groups ensure that their groups are productive, effective and achieve their objectives. Whilst the workshop will cover the role of focus groups and how to organise a focus group, the emphasis will be on the skills and techniques needed to effectively facilitate focus groups. Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience of introducing the discussion topic, using topic guides, engaging group participation and using moderating techniques.
