Eligibility to Work in the UK – Information for Candidates
It is a legislative requirement that every employer must check that a prospective employee has the correct eligibility to work in the UK in place BEFORE:
(i) the appointee commences employment
(ii) or an extension to an existing appointment is issued. Failure to do so can lead to civil and criminal penalties for non-compliance.
Within the recruitment action for all posts, candidates invited to attend interview/selection action will be asked to present evidence of their eligibility on the day of the interview/selection action. The UK Border Agency (UKBA) advise on which documentation is considered suitable evidence for both European Economic Area (EEA) (see right hand link for list of EEA countries) and non-EEA nationals and we are legally obliged to adhere to this.
Action by candidates invited to interview/selection action:
Please ensure that you present in person evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK in line with current UKBA guidelines. We will only be able to accept documents approved by the UKBA for this purpose.

If you require some form of approval to work in the UK, please be aware that there are considerable government restrictions on the employment of non-EEA nationals within the UK which we must adhere to. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to assist you in securing the necessary approval if this breaches our statutory duty.
