26 June - 10 July 2009

Staff Celebrate Women@TUOS2009
Staff from across the University came together for Women@TUOS2009,
a series of events and development opportunities focusing on female
progression at the University which took place from 29 June - 10 July.
2009 is a milestone in the University's history - it marks the 50th
anniversary of the first female professor at the University of Sheffield,
Professor Aileen Guilding, who was promoted to Professor of Biblical
Studies in 1959.

A varied programme of events was held including a presentation by Professor Liz Doherty on barriers to women´s progression to academic positions, a lunch for women professors, and a range of development sessions, including a session on nutrition for ACS staff.
Excellent feedback was received, and this will be used to inform current and future gender equality initiatives, including the Female Academics' Progression Action Plan: www.shef.ac.uk/hr/equality/focus/actionplan
A big thank you to all staff who participated for making Women@TUOS2009 such a success!
