Applying
If you would like to discuss an application for the MA please do not hesitate to contact us.
We would recommend that you submit your MA application on-line, as this allows you to edit your application before submission and to simultaneously upload supporting documents. This method also ensures that your application is dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. You can access the on-line application form here. We would also recommend that you (and your referees) send any supporting documents not supplied with your on-line form directly to the department either in hardcopy at the address below or a pdf version to r.hasnip@sheffield.ac.uk as this will ensure your application is compiled as quickly as possible. Please note, any references provided electronically should be sent directly from the referee.
There is no final deadline for submission of MA application forms and we are happy to consider applications up until September 2010.
Our entry requirement for the MA is a good Honours degree (normally at least upper second class or equivalent) in History or a related subject from a recognised UK or overseas university. However, each application is assessed on an individual basis. International students are also required to take a language test, e.g. IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.5 in each part), or TOEFL 600 with TWE 4.5 (paper based) or TOEFL 250 with TWE 4.5 (computer based), or TOEFL 100 (iBT), or equivalent.
