Student's Union Council

Council is where student representatives come together to make decisions on behalf of the students they represent. It meets every two weeks during term time and considers all issues affecting students at Sheffield, be they about the Students' Union, the University or wider society.

Your elected Union counsellor, who represents the History Department, will be confirmed at the beginning of semester 1.

Council is made up of 62 students elected by the members:

46 Departmental Representatives: One student from each University academic department.

8 Student Group Representatives: One for each of the following groups: Black Students, International Students, LGBT Students (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Students), Mature Students, Postgraduate Taught, Postgraduate Research Students, Students with Disabilities, Women Students.

The 8 Student Officers: Each of the full-time student representatives: President, Finance Officer, Welfare Officer, Education Officer, Women’s Officer, International Students’ Officer, Sports Officer, Activities Officer.
