The Sheffield lectures are high profile events on historical topics with broad appeal across different disciplines, intended to stimulate interdisciplinary debate. The 2010 Sheffield lectures will be held as follows:

    Professor Peter Burke (Professor Emeritus of Cultural History, University of Cambridge)

    'The Rise and Fall of the Polymath, 1500-2000'


  • Wednesday 3rd March, 2010 (4:15), The Humanities Research Institute - Douglas knoop Centre, 34 Gell Street
    Professor Quentin Skinner (Barber Beaumont Professor of the Humanities, Queen Mary, London)

    'A Genealogy of Liberty'
