Peter Watt studied as an undergraduate at the University of Glasgow, completed a Masters degree at the University of Iowa (USA) and holds a PhD from the University of Aberdeen.
His doctoral thesis examined the relationship between the media, prominent intellectuals and the state during the Mexican government´s dirty war against political opposition in the wake of the 1968 student movement.
His other research interests include US/Latin American relations, new social movements in Latin America, media in Latin America. At present he is working on a book on narcotrafficking in Mexico.
He teaches modules on Latin American Politics, History and Cinema and coordinates the first year beginners´ Spanish language course. He is coordinator for the year abroad.
