Dr Hayley Rabanal studied French and Spanish as an undergraduate at the University of Leeds and went on to complete an MA in Applied Translation Studies there. She spent several years working in the translation and localization industry in Lyon, France and London before undertaking research for a doctorate at the University of Sheffield.
After completing her PhD thesis, she worked as a University Teacher in Hispanic Studies at the University of Liverpool and returned to Sheffield as lecturer in 2010. In the Department of Hispanic Studies she is the Level 1 coordinator and teaches at all levels on courses focusing on Hispanic fiction and popular culture, and contemporary Spanish politics and history.
Hayley´s research interests centre on contemporary peninsular Spanish cultural production and the transition to democracy, with particular reference to issues of historical memory.
