"A Question of Health"
This was a participative inquiry event, held in Firth Hall in December 2008 designed to seek the views of staff and students on health and well-being in the University of Sheffield and specifically on how the University could move further towards being a "Healthy Campus".
The event produced some very interesting ideas. There was a strong focus, for example, on the creation of what could be called "a healthy environment in which we work" - supportive local cultures and organisational arrangements, plus a physical environment which was both pleasant and supportive of a sense of community on campus.
This was our first attempt - as part of the Healthy Campus project - to ask directly for the views of staff and students. The response has been really helpful and we can put it to immediate use in our work. We can also return to and build upon it in developing our knowledge of health and well-being in the university.
