Biography

I joined this department in 2002 to complete a B.Sc in Human Communication Sciences.
My dissertation involved an attempt to revise the braille International Phonetic Alphabet, which had not been fully revised since its formulation in 1934.

Following my graduation in 2006, I continued to study in this department and graduated with an M.Sc in Human Communication Sciences (Research) in 2008. My research project was a longitudinal investigation of connected speech development in one typically developing child.

I became a member of the British Association of Academic Phoneticians in 2008.

Current Projects

I am currently studying for a Ph.D funded by the University of Sheffield.
My project aims to investigate possible interactions between the development of connected speech processes and syntax.
The first phase has involved a longitudinal study of one child´s assimilation and syntactic development from age 2 to 4 years.
In the second phase, I shall compare these phenomena across two children in order to investigate individual similarities and differences.
The data which forms the basis of this project has been kindly donated by Professor Elena Lieven and colleagues at the University of Manchester and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig.
