Biography

I received my BSc in Applied Medical Sciences (Speech Language Pathology and Audiology) from King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 2006. In 2008, I gained an MSc in Speech and Cleft in the Department of Human Communication Sciences at the University of Sheffield, UK. My Masters dissertation focused on the speech output characteristics of Arabic-speaking children with cleft palate.

After my MSc I worked as Speech and Language Pathologist in the Prince Sultan Humanitarian City in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2010, I was fortunate enough to return to the University of Sheffield to start my PhD in the Department of Human Communication Sciences.

Current Research

My PhD research interests focus on speech production in cleft lip and palate. The aim of the project is to produce a test for the assessment of cleft palate speech for Arabic-speaking individuals. The project will also use electropalatography to investigate cleft speech production in Arabic. Crosslinguistic comparisons will be an area of particular interest.
