All candidates must apply through UCAS.

Please ensure that all the information entered on the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) form is accurate and up to date. If you have a disability and/or any health needs then it is important that you indicate this on the UCAS form as this will enable us to ensure that the department and the University can support your learning needs if you are offered and accept a place on the course.

If your UCAS form is approved then you will be invited to an open day (BSc) or for an interview (BMedSci).

All the offers made after the open day are conditional on receiving a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure, and a satisfactory health check.

The following tables describe the standard offers we make to sucessful applicants to our undergraduate degree programmes.

BMedSci (Hons) Speech [UCAS code B620 BMS/Speech]

We require applicants to have visited a Speech and Language Therapy clinic and either to have observed a therapist working, or to have discussed the profession with a clinician.

All candidates are selected for this course by personal interview, since places are offered not only on the basis of academic ability, but also on the basis of interpersonal skills.

A speech and language therapist has to be warm, outgoing and interested in people. It is important to be able to make contact quickly and easily with all types of person, without being over familiar. It is essential to be a good listener. Speech and language therapists work independently with their own case load of patients.
