Graduate Research DegreesThe research degrees offered are Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). We invite enquiries from prospective students wishing to carry out research in language and communication, including research with children or adults who have communication impairments. The Department has a very active research programme and an international reputation. The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirm the Department's status as a world class centre for the study of Human Communication Sciences with 60% of its research graded in the top 4* (world leading) and 3* (internationally excellent) categories. Research in the Department focuses on both theoretical questions and clinical needs in relation to speech, language and communication. It is organised into three areas: Clinical Linguistics; Cognitive Neuroscience of Speech and Language; Speech, Language and Literacy: Development, Difficulties and Intervention. |
