Biography
Dr Steve Thornton is a Reader in Environmental Engineering Science in the Dept of Civil & Structural Engineering. He has over 15 years experience in contaminant hydrogeology, with particular research interests in laboratory and field studies of biodegradation of organic contaminants in groundwater, the transport and fate of pollutants in dual porosity aquifers, attenuation of landfill leachate in clay liners and aquifers and the design of reactive barriers for landfills.
He is the course co-ordinator for a number of masters level courses:
- MSc in Environmental Management of Urban Land and Water
- MSc in Contaminant Hydrogeology
- MSc in Urban Water and Environmental Management
