Theresia Kopper
Austrian Lector in German

I studied German language and literature at the Karl Franzens Universität Graz – a city, located south east of Austria. During my first degree in German studies, I was an Erasmus exchange student at the University of Bristol. After graduation my taste for travel, my interest in music and arts, culture and language were not satisfied yet. Before I came to the University of Sheffield, I was a Fulbright German language teaching assistant and a non-degree student at Simpson College, Indianola/Iowa, U.S.
My academic interest is in German linguistics, in particular in pragmatics at the interface of philosophy of language, with an interdisciplinary approach towards discourse studies, sociology and cognitive science.
In the Department of Germanic Studies, I teach language at all levels, the option modules Österreich Heute and Medien und Öffentlichkeit at Level 2 and Presenting and Debating in German at Level 3.
