Japanese migration & settlement patterns
This work was originally funded by the British Council and the Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst, and has been carried out with Günther Glebe of the University of Düsseldorf. The research has involved the analysis of census and registration data, interviews with key individuals (particularly in the housing market), and questionnaires involving Japanese residents.
The primary focus has been on settlement in London and Düsseldorf, but further work has been done on the Japanese as a diaspora group. Recent publications resulting from this research theme include the following:
