Graham Allsopp is Chief Cartographer in Cartographic Services, a support unit of the Department of Geography. Cartographic Services provide a wide range of mainly graphic-orientated support to both the Department and the University generally. This includes technical illustration, graphical presentation of statistical data, publishing (both traditional, electronic, PDF and web), data acquisition (including slide scanning), CD-ROM authoring and graphical output. We provide most of the authoring, design and support for the departmental web pages.

Graham is a native of Stockport, and although putting down strong roots in Sheffield, still maintains he's only in Yorkshire doing missionary work, trying to make the natives see the light and go west. After graduating in Cartography in 1980 from what is now Oxford Brookes University, he was employed by what is now University of Lincoln. Graham moved to the University of Sheffield in 1983. He has been a member of the Society of Cartographers for over 30 years, having served as a committee member and Treasurer for many of these.

In between fatherhood, Graham tries to maintain a wide range of interests including walking, cycling (he has got four bikes), gardening, dog walking, current affairs and football (seemingly permanently cursed with having to support Stockport County).
