Summer Open Days for 2014 entry
If you are interested in one of our courses you can visit us on one of our Summer Open Days before you apply. In addition to being able to attend talks on Geography courses including Environmental Science, you will be able to visit the Departments (including the Department of Animal & Plant Sciences) and meet our great community of staff and students.
There are four open days in 2013 to choose from:
- Saturday 15 June 2013
- Tuesday 9 July 2013
- Wednesday 10 July 2013
- Saturday 14 September 2013
Book onto one of our summer open days
If you cannot make any of these dates, you can attend one of the University's campus tours, which run on Wednesdays throughout term time. Tours also run on Mondays and Fridays during busy periods.
Open days for offer holders
All applicants who receive an offer will also receive an email or letter inviting them to attend one of our offer holder open days.
These open days run between January to April. They are designed to give you a fuller picture of life and work as a student on your particular course. Each day also includes short tours of the campus and the department, a visit to catered and self-catered accommodation, and opportunities to meet staff and current students.

Heather Woodhead recently graduated from the MEnvSci Environmental Science course.
I chose Sheffield for the excellent reputation of both the University and the course. It was clear from the open day that the University offered everything I had hoped for. An open day lets you look round the departments, meet the course tutors and some current students, and make sure the course is right for you.
Both the course and student experience have exceeded my expectations. Because the course is jointly taught by the departments of Geography and Animal & Plant Science, there is a diverse range of modules, covering many environmental areas, taught by specialists in those fields.
Sheffield the city has everything you could wish for, with excellent shopping, sports facilities and nightlife. It’s also on the edge of the beautiful Peak District, meaning you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
I hope to use the knowledge, skills and experience the course has helped me develop to pursue an environmental career. The final Masters year of the MEnvSci course in particular has allowed me to develop my research skills and focus even more closely on the topics that interest me.
