Entry Requirements
Candidates will need at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Geography or a related subject, and offers to final year undergraduates are conditional on this requirement. All students wishing to study at the University of Sheffield must show that their English language is at a level which allows them to successfully complete their chosen course of study. For candidates for whom English is not their first language or who do not possess a degree taught in the English language there are minimum English language requirements. If these have not yet been met, any offer made will be conditional on obtaining IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) average of 6.5 or above, with at least 5.5 in each component, or equivalent qualification.

Free weekly English language support and drop in sessions
As a student in the Department of Geography you will have free weekly access to an instructor from the ELTC (English Language Centre), who specialises in reading comprehension and writing support for students whose first language is not English. There are also regular drop-in sessions for individuals with particular needs.
