International Glaciological Society British Branch Annual Meeting – a success!
The Department of Geography was proud to host the 34th International Glaciological Society British Branch Annual Meeting on 2 and 3 September 2009. Sixty-five delegates were enjoyed a varied and fascinating programme of around 30 talks and 20 posters. During the poster session, delegates also sampled some of Sheffield´s finest ales, before enjoying an outstanding dinner at the nearby Baan Thai restaurant.
The organisers were very pleased to welcome John Glen to the meeting, who presented prizes for the best oral and poster presentations by a postgraduate student. Photographs below show Iestyn Barr (University of Sheffield) receiving the prize for the best oral presentation, and Allen Pope (University of Cambridge) receiving the prize for the best poster.
