The French Play 2007-08

'Le Retour Imprévu' by Jean-François Regnard

fetards des années 20

The young and profligate Clitandre is living it up on borrowed money and borrowed time in order to finance a heady lifestyle and no-expenses-spared wedding to Lucile. He is ably abetted in this by his valet, Merlin, by Lucile's maid, Lisette and by a dissolute Marquis whom he has befriended. All is roses, until his father suddenly and unexpectedly returns from his travels. How will the resourceful Merlin and company cope? And, as one extravagant lie leads to another, will it ultimately be blood, tears or champagne that flows in the family home?

The play will run for 3 performances on 20th, 21st and 22nd February 2008 at the University Drama Studio, Shearwood Road, Sheffield.

It will start each night at 7.30pm and tickets cost £4 (£3 concessions).

The directors are: Julia Dobson and David McCallam
