Changes to the project budget

Virement
We can move all or some of a project budget from one heading (sponsored class) to another if a sponsor confirms that this is acceptable. This is formally recorded in uBASE as a virement of budget.

Budget changes
If the project expenditure is not being incurred as originally expected it may be possible to change the budgets assigned to each heading (sponsored class) without making a formal virement in uBASE. In this way the sponsor can still see the variant between the original budgets and the actual spend.

Additional budget
If the research project has received additional funding then this needs to be formally recorded. The income budget is increased and the extra expenditure budget is allocated to the appropriate headings (sponsored class).
