1. You must have some basic navigational skills on uBASE which should be provided by your departmental colleagues or line manager. uSpace for Basics in Navigation also provides general guidance documentation on using uBASE and understanding how to navigate around the system

Profit centre reporting (for monitoring departmental accounts at Planning Unit level)

Cost centre reporting (for monitoring core departmental accounts held as cost centres)

Assuming prior knowledge of uBASE, the course will cover:

• Understand the use of profit centres, cost centres and project accounts for recording income and related expenditure for University activities
• Understand the financial year and financial periods used at the University
• Understand the purpose of budget virements
• How to display the cost centre structure for your Department
• How to move budget from Departmental/Faculty level fund centres to individual fund centres which are linked to cost centres using the Budgeting Workbench 
• How to move budget between individual fund centres to allocate budget between different cost centres using the Budgeting Workbench
• Understand the terminology used in uBASE for profit centre and cost centre accounts

• Course format: is either one-to-one or small groups depending on number of requests for training received
• Duration: up to 2.5 hours
