Our new Doctoral Training Centre

The Faculty of Social Science is very pleased to reveal a new Doctoral Training Centre.

Many of today's greatest research challenges are inherently multidisciplinary in nature, and require doctoral researchers who not only have a strong core expertise in their 'home' discipline, but can cross disciplinary boundaries effectively.

The White Rose Doctoral Training Centre in Social Sciences was established in January 2011 with an investment from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to provide a national training centre for postgraduate researchers in social sciences.

We are adopting a radically different approach to PhD study through a joint partnership between the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Sheffield, and the Universities of Leeds and York.

The Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) is due to open in the University of Sheffield's ICOSS building very shortly.

For more information about the DTC please visit the new website - a link is available on the right.
